A Group for Every Skill Level

Given the snow still on the ground, it may be hard to get your head wrapped around the fact that our cycling season starts this weekend!  Unfortunately however we are still in desperate need for Ride Marshals!

Rides will be cancelled if there is no Ride Marshal available.  Remember that you don't have to be the strongest rider in your group to be the Marshal, you don't have to stay at the front and pull the whole time!  The Oakville Cycling Club is run on a volunteer basis, we all need to do our part to keep it running - if everybody volunteers to marshal just one ride, we will get it covered!  If you have ridden with the club in previous years or ridden in other club/group rides, you are qualified.  We have a full library of routes to chose from so you don't even have to come up with your own route.  Please let the ride coordinators know your availability:  This email address is being protected from spambots. SOCIAL NIGHT

Our season opener social night is planned for Friday April 27th at 7pm at the Kings Arms Pub in downtown Oakville - we have had a tremendous response and are looking forward to seeing you there!  If you still would like to come but have not RSVP'd, let us know:  https://goo.gl/forms/tQkhtyUcjOrZFgLv2

CLOTHING

We are ALMOST there...some final tweaks needed to be made to the color/design of the kit, we expect the store to open in the next day or so, I will send another announcement with instructions.  We are offering a $20 rebate towards the purchase of a jersey, one rebate per member, and the rebate will only be available on this first order, so please take advantage of it!

RIDES START THIS WEEKEND

Finally, a reminder that the club rides start this weekend, G5 Munns at 8:30am Saturday (note alternate parking location), and G1-4 rides Sunday at 8:30am leaving from the North Halton Operations Center.  Have your OCC membership card handy as proof of membership.  Have fun and ride safe!

SAFE RIDING TIP

Ride consistently and predictably.  When you're riding in a group, sudden unexpected movements are dangerous.  Brake gently, accelerate away from stops gradually, hold your line, don't weave right to left and back again and use your voice!  Call out loud when you see debris on the road or you suddenly need to break.  We are all responsible for a safe ride.
